He brings more than 13+ years of experience in Intellectual Property Research and Analytics, and has led successful delivery of critical projects working closely with the R&D teams of multinational corporations and senior counsel at patent law firms. Mr. Edward Chalfie is responsible for handling patent filing, prosecution, and litigation matters for PatentManiac's clients in the USA. Mr. Edward Chalfie has represented U.S. and foreign clients in the acquisition, enforcement, and coordination of all aspects of their intellectual property rights across diverse technologies, including artificial intelligence, wearable electronics, plastic molding systems, medical devices, mechanical devices, and sports equipment. Mr. Edward Chalfie is a registered patent attorney with more than 30 years of experience in international patent and trademark protection and enforcement. He has extensive experience as lead counsel in infringement and anti-counterfeiting actions, and trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings in the US Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Edward Chalfie represented the winning plaintiff in the landmark US Supreme Court trademark case Qualitex Company vs. Jacobson Products Co., Inc., in which the Court unanimously accepted his argument that a product's color alone can be registered and protected as a trademark.

A major part of Robert's practice is representing large US, Japanese and far Eastern corporations before the European Patent Office, and servicing the ever increasing demand from abroad for high quality representation before the EPO.
In the field of patents, Robert is experienced in computer software and hardware, business methods, electronics, telecommunications and electrical engineering. He serves on the Computer Technology Committee of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents.
Robert has gained broad experience across a wide range of technical fields, including building products, control systems, medical devices, civil engineering, fluid motors, automotive engineering, mechanical handling equipment, oil and gas, point-of-sale systems, sensors, renewables, recycling, transport, health technologies, robotics, and consumer durables.

Robert is qualified in civil litigation and has experience with litigating of twelve trade mark, copyright and design cases in the UK High Court and Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC), as well as additional oppositions and oral proceedings at the European Patent Office and the UK Trade Marks Registry.
For Trade Marks, Robert has over 30 years experience in the filing and prosecution of UK, European, International and foreign trade mark applications for well known high street brands including those in the domestic home appliance and sanitation industries and retail as well as for a wide range of smaller and medium size companies.
Robert is also active in the securing and enforcement of registered and unregistered design rights, in the UK, and abroad.
